Seminole Lakes Tennis Court Rules
The intention of the SLCC Tennis Court Rules is not to put restraints on members,
but to see that everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy the facilities.
CLUB COURT RULES & REGULATIONS
Effective October 1, 2025
These Rules & Regulations have been developed and adapted to clarify issues and concerns and to benefit all members. In the event of a conflict the following priorities shall control: Articles and Bylaws, Rules and Regulations. The Rules Committee is charged with the responsibility of overseeing the observance of all Court Rules.
HOURS OF PLAY COURTS
The defined times of play on the Courts are:
1. Prime-time: 9 am - 1 pm (November through May)
2. Non-Prime time: 1 pm - 9 pm (November through May)
3. Summer Hours: 9 am - 9 pm (June through October)
The Courts are located at:
1. Soft Courts: 1 - 3 (26185 Seminole Lakes Blvd)
2. Hard Courts: 4 - 5 (26200 Stillwater Circle)
SCHEDULING PRIORITY
1. The following is the scheduling priority of events on the Courts:
1. SLIC Tennis – Wednesdays, 9 am time guaranteed (offer 11 am if a conflict arises with a League) and Brunch Bunch –
Sundays 9 through 1 pm
2. League Matches, including USTA
3. Jerry Fisher Drop-in and Women’s Open
4. Team Practice
5. Social Tennis
2. The weekly Scheduled Events of SLIC are automatically scheduled and will not conflict with scheduled League play, with a possible change of time from morning to afternoon.
3. The scheduling of League Matches are scheduled through the Club’s Tennis Coordinator prior to the beginning of the League Season. Make-up Matches are subject to available Courts and Times published on the Website’s “Calendar” Page. Requests must be sent to tennis.slcc@gmail.com only.
4. Team Practice. Each team is entitled to one day per week. Seminole Lakes teams playing in local leagues can request time on an automatic renewal basis provided they do not interfere with the above priorities. League practice is limited to one – two-hour period per week. A team may reserve no more than two soft courts during prime time. If a third court is available at that start time the team may use it. A reservation for practice time by any another team member is not allowed.
5. Club Member. May make reservations by email to tennis.slcc@gmail.com. A cancellation of the existing scheduled time must be sent to this same email. Courts that are open and not reserved can be used by an active member.
RULES REGARDING NON-CLUB MEMBERS
1. USTA. League Play is a 10-week event: USTA players representing Seminole Lakes in a current event are allowed to play all home matches plus team practices and drills. Fees must be paid before the event begins. Team Captains are responsible for collecting fees and giving them to a Board member to be given to the Treasurer.
2. League. Play requires an active Seminole Lakes Tennis Club membership for home matches. Non-members may be invited to team practices to fill courts at the discretion of the team captains.
3. Non-League Play. (excluding Seminole Lakes Social Events), Guests must play with an active Club Member and are limited to 4 times a month. Fees for non-members must be collected or paid by theactive member and given to a Board member to be given to the Treasurer.
4. Club Social Events. Non-Club Members may play without charge when invited by the Event Coordinator.
5. Prospective members. May be allowed to play (3) three times for free at the discretion of a Team Captain or the Membership Chair.
6. Visitors. Visiting Friends or Family of active Club Members may play free of charge with the active Club member during their stay.
7. Non-members. Taking lessons or drills from a Club designated pro are not subject to court fees but are responsible for paying the pro directly.
LEAGUE PLAY
1. League Players. Must follow the rules of the League while playing at the Seminole Lakes Courts.
2. Matches. After a match is completed, the court should be swept and brushed, after which all players on that court should leave the court area. At the discretion of the Team Captains, if a match on an adjacent court is still ongoing, cleaning of courts may be delayed until that match is finished.
3. Team Captains. Except for acting team captains, players not currently playing are not to enter the court area until all matches are completed.
COURT MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (Membership)
1. Brushing. Brush clay courts fully and clean lines after each use.
2. Used Items. Cups, drink containers, used balls, ball cans and lids should be properly disposed of.
3. Score Markers. Return score markers to their proper positions and cover score markers with covers.
4. Gates. Close all gates to the courts to avoid possible damage to the courts by animals.
5. Wet Courts. Courts are not to be brushed.
RESTROOM CARE
1. Responsibility. It is the responsibility of all Club Members to keep the Restroom neat and clean.
2. Closing. The Restroom door should not be propped open except when necessary for cleaning.
COURT COURTESY
1. Court Use. The tennis soft courts are to be used only for tennis. Hard courts may also be used for pickleball.
2. Attire. All players are to wear proper tennis and pickleball attire.
3. Shoes. Appropriate tennis shoes are to be worn on the courts.
4. Conduct. Loud or abusive language or conduct is not permitted.
5. Scheduled Time. When scheduled playing time is expired players must leave the court, with the exception for rain delays or longer than usual League Matches.
6. Smoking. Smoking on the courts is prohibited.
COMMON GROUND SURROUNDING COURTS (USAGE)
The primary intent of the common ground is to further the appearance of a quality Tennis and Pickleball Community. Recognizing that little recreational space is available, however, limited recreational usage may be permitted under the following conditions:
1. Activities. Must be sponsored by a Club Director and approved by the Club Board, unless it is determined that further consideration may require the approval of the Owner (SLCC).
2. Plan. A written plan for the activity must be submitted to the board with any request. The plan should include responsible party’s name, times, setup/takedown schedule, parking plan (for golf carts and cars), and any other information the Board may require.
3. Alternate Site. The Board may at its sole discretion direct that the activity take place at an alternate site.
4. Physical Site. No activity will be permitted which alters the physical characteristics of the property or damages the property.
5. Conduct. No boisterous or loud behavior which interferes with the quiet enjoyment of adjacent property is allowed.
6. Attire. Appropriate attire for the event (i.e. shirts) should be worn.
7. Pre/Post-Event Condition. Area must be returned to pre-Event condition at the conclusion of the Event. Tents, booths, stakes, trash containers, etc. may not be left overnight without prior approval.
